Equip your people with resilience and change readiness
THRIVE: Essentials is a three-module online course that helps organizations and teams meet uncertainty with confidence and action-driven strategies.
Your people need more than productivity hacks and tool-tastic frameworks. They need practical, strategic and imaginative ways to navigate and lead through change. In an increasingly attention-starved economy, they also need something radical: time and space to unlock their own resilience. That’s what THRIVE offers.
Designed and delivered by futurist Dr Wendy Schultz and organizational transformation expert Victoria Ward, THRIVE combines strategic foresight, narrative, and change tools with actionable, reflective exercises. THRIVE is valuable for leadership cohorts and teams taking on new challenges, learning and development programs grappling with evolving learning requirements and technological shifts, or teams preparing for complex transitions.
Born from practice, proven at scale
THRIVE was originally developed as a digital upskilling programme inside a global organization of over 70,000 employees, created in response to the potential of generative AI. It’s based on 30 years of research and practice in leading through complex transitions at some of the world’s most recognisable global brands, international NGOs, UN member bodies, and G20 governments. Victoria and Wendy combine futures thinking, narrative practice and transformation capacity building methods into an experiential, modular learning experience that sets it apart from more traditional Learning and Development offerings for leadership through change.
The original programme won a global award for Digital Upskilling at Scale, and over 11,000 employees have completed the programme.
What began as a response to technological disruption has evolved into a course for any leader who wants to equip their team, function, or organization to meet change with creativity, clarity, and resilience.
What THRIVE: Essentials delivers
Each of the three foundational modules equips participants with two integrated methods, from strategic foresight and narrative and change. Together, they help develop foresight, adaptability, and collective intelligence. Participants bring a change challenge they are experiencing and use the methods taught by two industry experts with 30+ years of experience each to move through their challenge with more clarity, creativity, and confidence.
Module 1: Future Story and Backcasting
Participants create a vivid, motivating picture of a preferred future and build a pathway to activate change.
Module 2: Shared History and Three Horizons
Participants use this dual lens to place themselves within wider contexts of change and draw lessons from the past to inform long-term decisions.
Module 3: Futures Wheels and Verge
Explore ripple effects of change and identify weak signals and emerging edges of transformation and innovation.
Each module includes:
- Engaging video teaching from Victoria and Wendy
- Practical, real-world exercises participants can apply to live challenges
- Downloadable worksheets and facilitation-ready materials
- Flexible, self-paced structure (no final exams, no one poring over personal reflections)
- Off script reflections from Victoria and Wendy on their 30+ years of experience in the field
- A certificate of completion

Who this is for
THRIVE: Essentials isn’t for every organization. It’s interdisciplinary, practice-based, and invites participants to engage with complexity using imagination and emotional intelligence—not just frameworks and KPIs. But if your team, function, department or organization is:
- Facing a strategic inflection point or transformation initiative
- Guiding people through sustained, complex transitions
- Rethinking capability-building in the face of uncertainty
- Adapting to rapid technological, regulatory, or societal change
- Ready to elevate your capabilities beyond business-as-usual approaches to change management
- Grappling with a Wicked Problem
Then THRIVE is a powerful fit.
Whether you’re a public sector body preparing for policy disruption, an enterprise L&D team building adaptive capacity, or a mission-driven organization working at the edge of systems change, THRIVE helps you equip your people with the mindset and methods to operate with increased resilience in volatile environments.
The methods THRIVE teaches are already being used inside global manufacturers upskilling for digital transformation; international NGOs building foresight fluency in policy teams; and professional membership organizations preparing for systemic shifts in the legal profession. With THRIVE, you will be building foresight and transformation fluency in your people so that they can operate with increased resilience in volatile environments and deliver on the needs of your business.

FAQs
What is foresight?
Foresight comprises a wide variety of theories, frameworks, methods and processes drawn from over 50 years of conceptual development and applied practice, which are extensively documented in the peer-reviewed literature.
Foresight is not about predicting the future, nor is it freeform speculative imagination. It is a structured approach to make sense of future challenges and to inform decision-making and priority-setting, taking a long-term view to make short- and medium-term decisions. Foresight also prompts us to critically assess our current assumptions and what we take for granted in a context of evolving change.
Most simply, foresight focuses our attention on change and its impacts over time. Foresight can be thought of as a set of reflective questions that engage us in thinking critically and systemically about change and its implications – both emerging risks and emerging opportunities. It helps reduce blind spots regarding potential changes and impacts. It widens our sense of the positive potential of the future. At its most effective, it is a systematic survey of developments relevant to our roles and functions that are likely to result in the greatest health, social, and economic benefits in the future.
Social change, technological and scientific advancement and innovation of any kind are characterised by complex, dynamic interactions, serendipity and inherent unpredictability. Limits to knowledge require continuous re-evaluation of options and strategic choices. Foresight enables us to respond more rapidly and rigorously to upcoming changes that overturn our assumptions and current ways of working.
Foresight helps us to understand how much more we can ask of the future in setting our goals and imagining better futures.
